Review: "I may have rated this film a near 7 in earlier years, but each time I watch it, I am impressed with each aspect of film production that is involved with the final product.
Such a great sense of timing, the dialog is beautiful and wonderful between the 4 main participants great casting all around music is so important and well introduced setting is present visually and mentally consistent
it doesn't really drop away as the film progresses. the film making marvels anything contemporary and any it draws from.
there are many different types of films that we all can enjoy, but this film gives the viewer so much in so many different realms, it should be viewed, reviewed and appreciated for the fine performances in every aspect that film-making contains.
I've seen other comparisons with this and the Godfather. They are different films and different film experiences. Miller's is much more film noir and it doesn't purport to be more than that, except in its excellent portrayal of that genre. Wonderful film each time it's watched."
